My Day

Let's see I spent all morning at the hospital with my youngest son having his pre-op testing done for his heart surgery next Tuesday. After I came home from that venture I took my laptop apart to the bare bones. It had been overheating and shutting down for months. I finally got brave enough to just take it apart to get to the fan and clean it out. Hopefully my laptop will run smoothly now. If anyone has any tips for keeping the inner parts clean (mainly the fan) I would love to hear them. AFter only 6 months of having the laptop it started giving me problems. That brings me to now, time to get dinner for the crew. I think I will be unfrugal and eat out! Maybe chinese or pizza. Have a great one!!

CHD Awareness Week

CHD (Congenital Heart Defect) Awareness week is coming up February 7-14th 2008.
Congenital heart defects are the leading casue of birth defect-related deaths in the US. Despite this fact, there is a severe lack of awareness about congenital heart defects and a lack of funding for research that is essential to the diagnosis and treatment of these defects.

Congenital Heart Defect Awareness Week is recognized by many states around the nation through government officials who have issued proclamations declaring February 7-14 Congenital Heart DEfect Awareness Week. We join together to increase awareness about these defects and heart disease in children in hopes of creating a better future for our children so they can live longer, healthier lives.

Just a few Facts:

*Up to 1.3 million Americans have CHD. Almost half are under age 25.

*9 out of every 1,000 infants are expected to be born with heart defects, or 36,000 babies a year in the US.

*In 2003, over 25,000 cardiovascular operations were performed on people age 19 or younger.

Good deals!

I wanted to share my good deals of the last few days. First I went Monday to get my prescription at Rite-Aid pharmacy. I transfered the script so I could take advantage of a $30 gift card plus 2 more $5.00 certificates when i refill 2 times. So with my giftcard I got the following
jumbo pack of huggies diapers (had a free coupon for them)
2 6 pks of coke (used a coupon that made them 2/$4.00)
box of tylenol on sale for .99 with store coupon (and used a $1.00 off coupon)
box of motrin on sale for .99 with store coupon (also used a $1.00 off coupon here too)
wisp flameless candle with $2.00 off store coupon (and a $3.00 off coupon)
box of haircolor with $1.00 off store coupon and then a $4.00 off coupon
my total came out to be $11.45 and I saved $27.99 in coupons
not bad.

Then that night I had to go to target for my son's medicine.
While there I got
2 bottles of Gatorade .99 cents each
dove deodorant .99 (used $1.00 off coupon)
2 degree deodorant .99 each (used 2 $1.00 coupons)
vaseline hand creme .97 (used $1.50 off coupon)
another dove deodorant .97 (used $1.00 off coupon)
My total spent was $1.48

Here is a picture of the target items. (minus a gatorade that went right into fridge)

Yesterday my son had a doctor's appointment in Hershey so afterward we stopped at Chocolate World. Here he is afterward enjoying his goodie he got there.

Foil Pack Taco Chicken

Tonight for dinner we tried a new recipe. I get te Kraft Foods magazine and tried a recipe I saw in there. It is called Foil Pack Taco Chicken . The only thing I did different was I didn't make the potatoes in with it. I made my own side of scalloped potatoes. I must say I am not a fan of chicken and this was GOOD! I will defintely make it again.

Diapers

I am usually loyal in buying diapers for my son. I always buy Pampers Baby Dry. (He is actually allergic to te Pampers Cruisers) Well the other week CVS had Huggies on sale and I had some Extra Card Bucks to burn so I bought them. I have bought the Huggies Supreme before and wasn't too impressed. The tabs don't stay well for him. Well I decided to try the regular Huggies. I got a few more by buying that type. Well the website for them says that the waistband is "stretchy". Not sure who actually thought that because I saw no "stretch" to them. So I promptly emailed the company telling them of my dislike for the diapers. They responded telling me to try the Supreme line and that they would send me coupons. Today I got the coupons and they sent me a coupon for a free bag and also two 1.00 coupons. I guess I will at least use the one for the free bag and will get a bag of Supreme's and try them again.

Target

I went to Target tonight to get the Pampers they had on sale for $8.00. Well of course I can never go into Target without browsing for some of their deals. As I was wandering through the store I came across boxes of diapers, these aren't the usual ones with two packs in them, they were ones with three in them and were marked only 3 dollars more then the other boxes usually cost. So I grabbed a box for my son. I got a few other deals and then went in search of my Glade Flameless Candle. I was armed with my coupon that lets you buy one get one free. I also had a 3.00 off coupon for one of these which I really didn't think I would be able to use yet it went through. So I got two of the candles for only 6.79 total. Not bad considering they are 9.79 a piece regular price. All in all with coupons I saved 17.54 and I also used a 15.00 gift card I got from work.

Back

I am back from my little "vacation". Hope everyone had a great holiday season. Tinkerbelle decided a few days before Christmas that our home just wasn't what she needed right now. Hopefully she went back to her real owners. It was fun having her around while it lasted.

We finally got some snow here yesterday here is a picture of my little guy enjoying his first time in the snow.

Isn't he just the cutest! He is set to have is final open heart surgery Feb 5th. I am such a wreck thinking about it.

I have vowed to make 2008 a more frugal year for my family. I have a great friend who is helping me with deals she hears of and finds and also tells me when I don't need to spend money on stuff I don't need. LOL! With her as my coach I think it may all pay off.

Off now to Target to get some diapers for my guy. They are on sale this week there 8.00 each and I have some coupons to use.

Have a great one!
