5 Minutes for Mom is hosting a photo contest. The theme is "motherhood", what it means to you. I am chosing this picture.
This was taken back on February 5th when my son underwent his 3rd open heart surgery. To me this is motherhood, being there for my son who was only 23 months old at the time and just holding his hand to comfort him and let him know mommy was there. At that point in his recovery it was the only way I could hold him. It gave us both great comfort.

How sweet! I've got tears in my eyes.
You know, I can count the amount of ER visits that my children have had on one finger. I know, and I remind myself daily, that I am an exceptionally lucky mother. Bravo to you for finding the strength to comfort--and to be the epitome of a mother to--your child.
That is an awesome image
Wow, amazing moment. I'm so glad he the surgery went well for him, or at least it looks that way. Recovery is so hard, I'm glad you were there and able to touch him and help him too.
Those pictures of a mother holding her child's hand is precious. I can't even image what it would be like to hold my child's hand after surgery let alone open heart.
Oh that just breaks my heart for you and your son. I hope he is doing well now.
breaking my heart.

Congratulations on being a finalist! After going through open heart surgery with my husband just three weeks ago, I can't even imagine how heart wrenching it would be to go through with one of my children! I love your picture!
Love this pic!! It shows the love and strength of a mother and child!
a sad stuation to be in, for any mom.
We have a similar photo from when Tyler had just had his Norwood. His little hand was so much bluer than my husband's...it's nice to see how pink Noah's is after his fontane!!!
Heart hugs and hope you win the contest!
